The Choice to Choose

Key mindfulness lesson + guided meditation.

Hello friends,

“What I learned at a very early age was that I was responsible for my life…You are your possibilities. If you know that you can do anything.”- Oprah.

I love this quote because of the powerful truth it holds. It reminds me of the heart of mindfulness practices, to become more and more aware of ourselves. To take responsibility for your life. With more awareness of yourself (thoughts, reactions, habits, and patterns) the door of CHOICE opens. You get to choose how you show up. Yes to that!

This week’s meditation practice is short and sweet. It gives us a quiet moment to focus on our breath and be placed in the present moment. With a seemingly simple choice to focus on our breath, we’re given insights into our lives. To observe our breath with the fluctuations of thoughts comes awareness, choice, and freedom. Wherever your practice leads you today may you meet yourself with understanding (maybe even a smile).

P.S. - I had to try out the new video format! Hope you enjoy it—more to come!

Love,

Lauren

What is mindfulness? Watch this 5-minute introduction to mindfulness from Sister Peace from the Buddhist monastery Plum Village. I love how she says, “mindfulness lets us be present for the miracles of life unfolding around us.” To learn more about Sister Peace click here.

Inspiration: Intuition has become a leading source of inspiration these days. There are 4 statements that help me step fully into my intuition. Which one resonates with you?

  1. “I am open to my intuition.”

  2. “ I expect intuitive guidance.”

  3. “I trust my intuitive guidance.”

  4. “I will act on intuitive guidance.”

Insight: This quote: “Be wild but stay soft.” I recently was sent a picture of myself from 10+ years ago by an old friend. The first thing I noticed was how much softer I’ve become over the years. I owe this softening to my mindfulness practices.

Interest: Helping where I can, when I can. There is likely a worthy cause needing extra hands. Maybe those hands are yours. Where can you lend help right now?

This week’s meditation practice is available here.  Love to hear from you. Please share your thoughts and connect with me at @laurenlee.love and @calmpoint_.
