LISTEN.

“We must honor that listening is a personal pilgrimage that takes time and a willingness to circle back.” -Mark Nepo

Yes, we are responsible for ushering in slow moments, tuning inward, and discovering ourselves—maybe even discovering meaning in our lives. But it feels (really) good to be honest about our world. We live in a constantly rushed "hurry-hurry, competitive edge, and challenging" society. We measure everything. We face hardships often out of our control and with little support. I’ll point to just a few like social injustices, our fragility to viruses, coping with our emotions, setbacks in our plans, loss of loved ones, and tragedies. The world is loud. Finding moments of stillness, quiet, and silence to tune inward is an act of courage. And to practice compassion towards yourself, amidst this chaos, is rebellious, and I salute you for that.

May this week's practices be both an invitation and a reminder that you are in a lifelong friendship with listening to yourself. You will ebb and flow, tune in, and tune out from yourself. May you find Calm Point as a gentle invitation to pause and listen(in).

Listen-to-the-heart Meditation Practice

10-minute slow meditation practice with silence and gentle prompts. If you *listen* carefully you can hear the sound of a winter’s rain in the background. :) Remember this may be new to you. Be kind to yourself as you learn to practice. Some days it comes easier than others but over time it strengthens. Easy does it and begin again. :) Listen here.

Daily Intention: “I am in friendship with myself.”

When the world gets loud and drowns out your inner voice, may you find the courage to nurture the friendship you’ve created with yourself, slow down, and tune in.

Questions of the Week: “What prevents me? What presents me?”

Ask your soul, higher self, and unchanging “self” the following questions. “What prevents me? Without thinking out a response, free write your inner reply. Then on a new page, ask your soul, “What presents me?” “What makes me known?” Similarly, free-write your inner reply.*

These questions are also available for self-inquiry in guided meditation. You can access that meditation format—> practice here.

*Questions from, “Seven Ways to Listen" -Staying close to what is sacred” by Mark Nep.
